Alone In A Crowd, Baxter, Faith No More, Friendly Fire, Hardwarwe Fanzine, Hogan's Heroes, Judge, Mouthpiece, Murphy's Law, Neurotic Impluse, OS 101, The Cause, Vision
We did this in December of 1996… Ian: Our ex drummer interview Faith No More for Sassy Magazine, kid from Friendly Fire…that’s a little history on me. BW: Oh, wow. Ian: I came from The Cause to Friendly Fire to Baxter to Hogan’s Heroes BW: With Jay Fisher Ian: …and being friends with Brian Strahle and all the crew from down there and having seen Hogan’s Heroes a million times, he decided to ask me when they needed a bass player. Skip: Johnny moved from bass to guitar BW: Well the record is coming out in February, but we already…

Born Against, By The Grace Of God, CR. Youth Of Today, Crass, Deadguy, Endpoint, Friendly Fire, Fugazi, Hogan's Heroes, Judge, OS 101, Rollins Band, Tim Singer, Transmeggetti, Victory Records
The first thing I remember about this show was that it was FREEZING outside. A snow storm had come in a few days before the temperature dove down with it. Sitting in the back of a friend’s truck with no heat was a pretty brutal experience. What pissed me off though was he just called us a bunch of wimps. The same dude who fucking cried and made us listen to weak shit like Lifetime whenever a girl breathed near him. TransMegetti were a local emo band that one of the Tesi Brothers and Brian Strahele (also ex Hogans Heroes)…

Baxter, Franklin, Hogan's Heroes, Lucky No. 13, OS 101, Whatever
I went to high school with Ian from Hogan’s Heroes/OS101/Friendly Fire’s younger brother Pete. He dropped out of school sometime in the fall of 1996, but he was one of the people who introduced me to straight edge. We hung around at the Smith house for most of this day. Their parents were pretty nice people who put up with a ton of us running in and out the house all the time. A few generations of hardcore kids bounced around in there. It sucks both of the Smith parents have passed away. Baxter was Ian’s side project. They were…

Anger, Dead Kennedys, Foil, Hogan's Heroes, OS 101
This show was right before Halloween I am pretty sure. A bunch of locals packed it into the OS 101 van and headed up to this show. This may have been one of their first shows since the switch of name from Hogan’s Heroes? I cannot exactly remember the timeline for that swap. Some other bands played this too, but I do not remember them either. Foil was a ska band that had a dude we were going to college with in it. We saw him around campus a lot and he ate lunch with us all the time. They…

Fists Of Fury, Hogan's Heroes, Maximum Penalty, OS 101, Vision
Because of the last minute nature of us finding out about this show, we had to scramble to get together rides and all of that. We ended up going with Joe from Fists Of Fury’s aunt, who was an ex punk, I think? I remember she was pretty preppie and loved ska. Also she was cute, so everyone in the car acted like idiots all night around her. Ugh. OS 101 (formerly Hogan’s Heroes, sort of) had just recorded this first EP. Being the “hometown” band, I guess, we were, for better or worse, very supportive. I had been given…

Hogan's Heroes, OS 101, Rain On The Parade, Shutdown
I don’t remember a ton about this show, but I remember it was during my first semester in college on a Friday night because I had class until late in the afternoon and I drove down to Manahawkin, picked up our crew, then drove back up past Toms River again to Island Heights to meet up with OS 101. I don’t remember a lot about Rain On The Parade at this show, but I feel like the show was pretty empty because there might have been another show going on that night? Shutdown did their usual 90 NYHC covers, which…

My first show of 1997 was in Bordentown, NJ at the Fieldsboro VFW (which apparently doesn’t exist anymore?). When I began teaching at BCC in 2009, I noticed I drove near Bordentown every day on my commute and it always made me think of the shows I went to at this venue (Also, Vincenttown. Do the punks still slam there?). I missed the two other Floorpunch shows here (one with Rain On The Parade and Vision, and the other with Human Remains and Earth Crisis). I went to this show with a bunch of friends, two of which, John Piorkowski…

Baxter, Chain Of Strength, Hogan's Heroes, Ian Smith, Insight, OS 101
These Chain Of Strength pictures are from City Gardens in Trenton NJ. I am pretty sure they are from their show with Insight. They were taken by Ian Smith (Hogan’s Heroes, OS101, Baxter, etc). I think I posted them once before, but I cannot find the post anymore.

For the first time in a very long time I drove up to this show with my friend John. We hit a ton of rain on the way up but, thankfully, by the time we got to New York City it was gone besides some lightning. John and I caught up on what each other was up to and laughed at the antics of the world around us. On the way up we listened to Dave K’s 1988-1990 NYHC mix. Upon arriving in Hoboken and trying to find a parking spot for probably around twenty to thirty minutes I quickly…

Weapon X was a band who only played one show at the Manville Elks Lodge on August 9th 1997. Members of Weapon X have also been in Ensign, Vision, The Purpose, Black Turns Green, Kurbjaw, A Death In The Family, and some others. I remember the week before Floorpunch, Vision, and 25 Ta Life played the same venue. In fact, Manville would be a consistent venue for a few years after this. Sometimes I really miss the place. It was easy to get to (go around the circle, go up six lights, make a left!), the people who ran it seemed to be really cool, and I always knew no matter what show I…
