In The Blink Of An Eye Fanzine #2: The Reviews

These were the reviews from In The Blink Of An Eye Fanzine #2 (#1 was a brief one pager that a few of these reviews appeared in originally). After a few issues of What Was Said, I switched names and tried pretty unsuccessfully to reboot the fanzine. A lot of the same problems that plagued WWS were all over this one too. This came out in the summer of 1998. I am thinking late in the month of August perhaps? I did not do another fanzine for about eight months before the first issue of Parade Brigade Fanzine came together.…

Parade Brigade Fanzine #1: The Reviews

We put out Parade Brigade Fanzine #1 in the spring of 1999. I have no idea what show we released it for, but I think it was at Manville Elks Lodge. Maybe. Amendment 18 Demo This band has members of a number of bands (Insted, Chorus Of Disapproval, Outspoken, etc) I had different expectations for this demo expecting more moshy stuff, but I got straight forward hardcore with interesting breakdowns. Lyrically, this isn’t as “militant,” as xChorusx was, but good all around especially “Eulogy.” I look forward to more. BW Bane Holding This Moment Equal Vision Records Bane sort of…

XClaim! Interview

XClaim! were an Australian band in the mid to late nineties. I was very friendly with their vocalist Craig, who also did Talk Is Cheap and Edge Of Quarrel Fanzines. I did this interview with Craig over AOL Instant Messenger in April of 1998. We reference a tape compilation that we were trying to put together at the time. I will make a separate post to discuss that. BW: Who is all in XClaim! Craig: Terrific opening question Billy…but since you live in youth crew central, that being New Jersey for you slower people, I’ll answer this one. XClaim! is…

Signifying Nothing Top 100 Of The Nineties

Four years late, here is the final list.  One thing I’ve noticed as I put this together is that there is a great lack of compilations on this list.  A lot of the decent compilations in the nineties have great songs, but also terrible ones.  I still feel like I am missing something obvious… 1.6 Band, Self Titled LP, USA, 1992 Acme, Self Titled 7″, Belgium, 1994 All Chrome, Flounders Flyers College & Canada LP, USA, 1999 Arms Reach, Self Titled 7″, Australia, 1998 Assuck, State To State 7″, USA, 1993 Aus-Rotten, Fuck Nazi Sympathy, USA, 1994 Bastard, Wind Of…

Newz U Can Uze

Big congrats to Manahawkin hardcore diva Leslie Adams and her store Fate winning a bunch of awards in local newspaper voting. Check out this interview with the newest band from members of Arms Reach, Life Love Regret . Everything Went Black has a great post up right now about a favorite band of mine, The Fearless Iranians From Hell. Bob Mould is currently blogging about his latest tour. I have heard that not only will he be playing songs from his solo records and from Sugar records, but also some Husker Du songs as well. I would love to see…

Arms Reach

I did this one with Luke through the mail sometime in early 1999. Arms Reach were one of the best bands of the 90’s, I wish there was a proper discography so more people could be turned on to these guys. Who is in the band? The Arms Reach unit consists of Christy (22)-guitar, Amy (21)-guitar, Squelchy (22)-drums, Ben “bass of death” (22)-bass, and me, Luke Crew (23) on vocals. I think it’s really cool that you guys did a split demo, how did that come about? Well both us and Found My Direction started around the same time (March…

Parade Brigade #1

This is our personal pages from Parade Brigade #1. Nothing much to say here. The Spazz interview was actually in #1 (but the H-Street interview we mention later on wasn’t, huh?). The Kill Your Idols, Speak 714, Purpose, and Nerve Agents interviews are still unreleased to this day. We never got around to interviewing In My Eyes. Parade Brigade #1 Well, well, a new zine. John and I have combined forces and are now doing a zine together. ITBOAE is dead; not that anyone gives a fuck, but hey why not mention it? I figure fuck, I am the negative…
