Burn, Ensign, Floorpunch, Full Speed Ahead, Kid Dynamite, OS101, Vision
Mercifully, this show got moved to Casino Skate Park. The openers were Full Speed Ahead, OS101, and Kid Dynamite, who were still fairly new and I had not yet heard before this show. I was not impressed. The bottomline is every band got their normal excellent reactions, but especially Vision and Floorpunch. Burn were really good. There were a couple of scuffles during their set because people were going off hard. I remember being told to avoid someone because “you don’t want to fuck with him.” Whatever.

Burn, Count Me Out, Most Precious Blood, Striking Distance, Time Flies
I hated every moment of this show besides when Burn was playing more or less. First, it was disgustingly hot. The AC in my car broke, so when it began raining as we went over the bridge, I had to open my windows a bit so they would not fog up, which meant everyone got wet. We finally found parking and met up at a friend’s apartment and headed to the show with him, but not before his dogs tried to eat my shoes, which everyone thought was so fucking funny. I hate dogs. The rain had let up, but it…

We put out Parade Brigade Fanzine #1 in the spring of 1999. I have no idea what show we released it for, but I think it was at Manville Elks Lodge. Maybe. Amendment 18 Demo This band has members of a number of bands (Insted, Chorus Of Disapproval, Outspoken, etc) I had different expectations for this demo expecting more moshy stuff, but I got straight forward hardcore with interesting breakdowns. Lyrically, this isn’t as “militant,” as xChorusx was, but good all around especially “Eulogy.” I look forward to more. BW Bane Holding This Moment Equal Vision Records Bane sort of…

American Nightmare, Breakdown, Burn, Cro-Mags, Crusade, Dave Flynn, Frontline, Merauder, Skarhead, Suicidal Tendencies
I am going to take on both of the shows because it is just easier… So suddenly the Cro-Mags were playing shows again, but this time it was with John, Doug, Mackie, and even Harley (and also Rocky George, ex of Suicidal Tendencies, although I don’t think he played on the good record). They played these two shows at CBGB in May of 2001, but I swear they also played the Continental before this. I need to check up on that. Either way, you bet we were going to be there. I love that when I was in college all…

Things have been slow around here lately. Some of it is lack of motivation, a lot of that stems from a decent downswing in readers/listeners, but also in content. I have not had a lot to say lately for some reasons that, maybe, I will write about sometime. *** Real Cops Demo Excellent NJHC that reminds me of bands like Full Speed Ahead and Tear It Up (who members of this band were in). I see a lot of potential here. *** Sucked Dry Demo Wow, another band that sounds like Cold Sweat is a big influence on them. Obviously, other bands like Crossed Out and Rorschach are also big influences. I…

Burn, Citizens Arrest, Infest, Napalm Death, No Comment, Nuclear War Now Records, Rorschach, Siege, Void, Youth Brigade, Youth Of Today
Citizens Arrest Colossus: The Discography Double LP Nuclear War Now Records Citizens Arrest are one of the most essential bands of the late 80’s to early 90’s period when hardcore was taking a turn towards uglier, noisier, and harsher sounds. Contemporary to bands like Rorschach, Burn, and No Comment, Citizens Arrest’s sound is equal parts influenced by bands like Napalm Death and Siege, and more youth crew oriented bands like Youth of Today or Infest. This discography contains pretty much everything it could possibly contain in a very organized manner. Their lukewarm demo (includes vocals by Ted Leo, that guy…

Four years late, here is the final list. One thing I’ve noticed as I put this together is that there is a great lack of compilations on this list. A lot of the decent compilations in the nineties have great songs, but also terrible ones. I still feel like I am missing something obvious… 1.6 Band, Self Titled LP, USA, 1992 Acme, Self Titled 7″, Belgium, 1994 All Chrome, Flounders Flyers College & Canada LP, USA, 1999 Arms Reach, Self Titled 7″, Australia, 1998 Assuck, State To State 7″, USA, 1993 Aus-Rotten, Fuck Nazi Sympathy, USA, 1994 Bastard, Wind Of…

Pictures courtesy of Start Today Fanzine (Nice Hardware Fanzine shirt on me) This show was hyped up for awhile as I recall. Smash & Grab was the new band for three members of Floorpunch together with members of Shark Attack and American Nightmare. Yeah, we were pretty curious. Bane and No Warning also played along with a couple others. I think I headed to this show with Jay Fisher and maybe Jim Lundy and a few other friends of ours. Smash & Grab had shirts for sale before they played and I got a chance to catch up with a…

Burn, Desperate Measures, Far From Breaking, Iron Age, Lockin Out Records, Metallica, The Icemen
Iron Age Butcher’s Bill 7″ Lockin Out Records Three new ones that I believe are going to be on their next record. These continue in the same vein as their excellent LP Constant Struggle. The Icemen, early Metallica, and Burn are definite reference points here. I just hope the metal influences don’t overwhelm them. Members of this band were in Far From Breaking and Desperate Measures, but this is far from that sound.
