Dead Nation, Degenerics, Diversity, Full Speed Ahead, To Each His Own, Worthless
So this was a Halloween show, which became a bit of a tradition in NJ around this time, I don’t remember a ton from it, but I think this was the show where FSA covered 7 Seconds. Degenerics played this show too and opened their set with a cover of “South of Heaven.” I don’t remember much else about this one.

http://hardcoreshowflyers.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/hsf000445.jpg I don’t remember a ton from this show, but here we go: I remember hanging out at the Fast Times table for awhile. I think that was this show. They played ASS (lol) a few times. Three Against One covered a War Zone song at this show. I went to college with a few people from that band. Andy was later in Tear It Up and a bunch of other bands. I don’t remember Degenerics playing show, but that doesn’t mean anything. I think I bailed for awhile to go eat dinner.

The first ever benefit for Matt Leveton was in January 1999. Matt used to book shows at Manville and got seriously hurt in a car crash. These shows were a really big deal at the time and a nice showing of what can happen when the hardcore scene comes together for something good. The first day was highlighted by a reunion show for Strength 691. I remember seeing a lot of people who I had not seen in a few years, which is an odd feeling when you are 19, and hung around catching up with a lot of people.…

Degenerics, Ensign, Purpose, Rain On The Parade, Reach The Sky, Tears Of Frustration, Worthless
This was yet another one of those shows where I worked all day and then raced to the show…I got there an hour late and it still had not even started! Tears Of Frustration got added to this show and opened it. I remember they covered a YDL song and the crowd was pretty awkward about it. The Degenerics, after a few seven inches, were starting to get really hot around this time. People were into them and they would always bust out a couple Bad Brains covers. No specific memories of Purpose, Worthless (another band that played a lot…

Bankshot 18, Dead Nation, Degenerics, Endeavor, The Illbilly Boys, Worthless
So this show was fine and all, but my big memory of it is the night before someone IM’d me claiming to be Matt Molnar and said they would get me on their guest list. I knew Matt pretty well, so I thought this was cool and headed up to the show. He had no idea what I was talking about and it turned out I had been pranked. I could have laughed it off, but I was actually pretty pissed. So three or four years go by and I finally figured out who it was that did it. This…

Degenerics, Full Speed Ahead, SOV, Worthless
This was my first experiences with all these bands. S.O.V. I would see a lot over the years and of course DJ ended up in Full Speed Ahead too. Worthless were a pop punk band I did not like. Degenerics were still kind of getting their sound together at this point, but eventually they would be pretty raging. One of my friends interviewed S.O.V. and Worthless at another show, but I do not know if he ever printed them or anything.

Degenerics, Fanshen, Parade Brigade Fanzine, Stormshadow, Try Fail Try
My biggest memory of this show is talking to Degenerics about doing an interview for what would eventually be the first issue of Parade Brigade Fanzine about a year later. I would put out another fanzine that summer, but I was already thinking ahead of doing a hard reset. Degenerics were a great band that gets overlooked a lot. I am sure I watched Stormshadow because I was friendly with members of the band, but I don’t remember anything about Try Fail Try or Fanshen.

Degenerics, Ensign, Murphy's Law, Refuse To Fall
The best part about this show was the “Manville!!!!!!!!!!!!” jokes. The lodge had a bunch of trophies on the wall that straight up looked like some Viking/Game of Thrones stuff. Jimmy Gestapo noticed this and riffed on it a lot during their set. I had to ask around about who else played this show and it turns out it was Refuse To Fall and Degenerics and probably some others. I do remember Refuse To Fall, but I think I went for food during their set. Maybe Ensign played too? There is a pretty high chance that Ensign played any and…
