Matt Leveton Benefit 1999

The first ever benefit for Matt Leveton was in January 1999. Matt used to book shows at Manville and got seriously hurt in a car crash. These shows were a really big deal at the time and a nice showing of what can happen when the hardcore scene comes together for something good. The first day was highlighted by a reunion show for Strength 691. I remember seeing a lot of people who I had not seen in a few years, which is an odd feeling when you are 19, and hung around catching up with a lot of people.…

Agnostic Front-Madball-Crown Of Thornz-25 Ta Life-Corrupt-NJ Bloodline-Fury Of V @ Stone Pony Asbury Park NJ 4-19-97

I heard about Agnostic Front getting back together sometime the previous summer. I had at a gig and someone I knew just randomly threw it into a conversation. I was online by the summer of 96, but besides a few websites and IRC, was more engaged in dorky fan culture and anime stuff while I was online back then, so news had not reached me about this. They played a few shows that winter and then more in the spring, which included a show in DC and then this one in New Jersey. So while a ton of people went…

Agnostic Front-Death Threat-Fit For Abuse @ CBGB December 2004

We totally blew it at this show. Obviously, the draw here was Fit For Abuse but we left pretty late and ended up missing them. We got there just as Death Threat (sadly not Deathreat) began playing. Agnostic Front set up and Roger went into some variation on “This is our first song, from our first album…” and the place went off. Played a lot of the hits plus some surprising songs from later records (such as New Jack) and an assortment of “newer” songs. They were good, but a bit sloppy. At the end of the set, they busted…

Ignite-Hands Tied-Fastbreak-Rain On The Parade-9 Lives at Fieldsboro NJ 4-20-97

The above video is from the day before at The Down Under in New Brunswick, but I went to see the newly reunited (and minus see crappy songs) Agnostic Front with Madball, Crown of Thornz, and some others. Seasonal allergies had just hit that week, so I was pretty sick after going crazy (and getting in a fight where like seven TOTALLY TOUGH AND SCARY skinheads went after me for DARING to try to break up a fight. One of them was like THIS IS NOT YOUR CONCERN. Oh, why didn’t you tell me this was SKINHEAD BUSINESS? Carry on!)…

In The Blink Of An Eye Fanzine #2: The Reviews

These were the reviews from In The Blink Of An Eye Fanzine #2 (#1 was a brief one pager that a few of these reviews appeared in originally). After a few issues of What Was Said, I switched names and tried pretty unsuccessfully to reboot the fanzine. A lot of the same problems that plagued WWS were all over this one too. This came out in the summer of 1998. I am thinking late in the month of August perhaps? I did not do another fanzine for about eight months before the first issue of Parade Brigade Fanzine came together.…

Madball-Fury Of V-E Town Concrete at Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ Summer 1996

Crystal and I went to this show. Demonstrating My Style had just come out and Madball were one of the best live bands going at the time. I wish I could remember who else played, but I think it was Second To None and Corrupt. A couple of posers from my high school went to this but all hide away from the pit and whatnot. E Town Concrete were totally not my thing, but they always got a crazy reaction. They had a few demos and I think I picked them up and a shirt which I traded a few…

Parade Brigade Fanzine #1: The Reviews

We put out Parade Brigade Fanzine #1 in the spring of 1999. I have no idea what show we released it for, but I think it was at Manville Elks Lodge. Maybe. Amendment 18 Demo This band has members of a number of bands (Insted, Chorus Of Disapproval, Outspoken, etc) I had different expectations for this demo expecting more moshy stuff, but I got straight forward hardcore with interesting breakdowns. Lyrically, this isn’t as “militant,” as xChorusx was, but good all around especially “Eulogy.” I look forward to more. BW Bane Holding This Moment Equal Vision Records Bane sort of…

Madball-Hatebreed-Fury Of V at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ April 1998

Wait, why is a Floorpunch video above? Well, I skipped that Floorpunch gig because I went to see Madball either the day before or the next day. I think at least. I am pretty sure I could only have one night off, so I went to see Madball. Odd choice? Not really. Madball were one of the best, if not best, live bands of that era. I think CJ and I went to this show. I don’t remember who else played this besides these bands, but maybe Second To None did too? I don’t really remember anything about Fury Of…
