t seems that I make an annual trek now to This Is Hardcore for at least one of the days. A few of my friends went to see Tragedy the night before, but I had to wrap up grading for a summer class so I could not go. I needed to go back to the shore while on vacation to see my parents, so it was great I could time this visit with a Monday night show in Brick. My pal Bob Shedd booked this one at the old Brick VFW, one of seemingly numerous VFW halls in Brick, where bands like Breakdown, The Casualties, Righteous Jams, and many others have played over the years. Soul Swallower S/T EP Collapse Records Holy shit! Over the summer I kept hearing about a project members of, amongst others, Mind Eraser had going called Soul Swallower. A friend who saw them live described them as “Mind Eraser, only better.” With these very high expectations I knew I had to hear this. Thankfully our friend Bob Shedd put this out on Collapse. Little Rascals Wig Out At Asa’s 7” Collapse Records After being blown away by these guys twice live this summer, I had to check out their record. The shore’s own Bob Shedd put this one out so you know it will be good. The Little Rascals play NYHC style with heavy mosh parts. Did I mention how heavy the mosh parts are? Parade Brigade #3 was thrown together in about 72 hours and it shows. John and I were driving to school on a Wednesday morning and I suddenly just had to have it out for a show that Friday evening. Both interviews in this issue (Fit For Abuse + Shark Attack) were done sometime that week and most of it was haphazardly laid out the night before at about 3am by me.
