25 Ta Life, Assimilation Or Oblivion Fanzine, Commin Correct, E-Town Concrete, Fastbreak, h2o, Hardware Fanzine, Mouthpiece, Tied Down
This was a big end of summer show in Red Bank. I remember Tied Down playing, but they may have switched their name to Prospect by then? I think Rich might have organized this show even? There was a flyer for sure, but I do not seem to have it. Commin Correct definitely played this show. I had interviewed Rick earlier in the summer and this show served as the debut for my first fanzine Assimilation Or Oblivion. I began wanting to interview Mouthpiece, Hardware Fanzine, and Fastbreak, and ended up with h2o (that a friend did) and 25 Ta…

E-Town Concrete, Fastbreak, Fury Of V, h2o, Killing Time, War Zone
I think Fury Of V played this show too. Killing Time canceled. This was the first time I saw Fastbreak. I had just heard them a few days before (remember, music traveled a bit slower back then) and they were really good. This was also the first time I saw E-Town Concrete too, who seemed to play a ton of shows back then. This was a record release, or right after it, for the first H20 album. I remember a ton of people from my high school were at this show. Lots of rando pop punk kids. That is why…

Downset, False Justice, Fury Of V, h2o, Inside Out, Minor Threat, One Life Crew, Rage Against The Machine, Shelter, Social Justice
During the winter of 1995-1996, I did not really go to shows for some reason. I think it was a combination of a lack of rides (I was still 16 and about a year away from having my own car) and starting at my first ever job. Our friend who drove to shows dropped out of high school and went through some pretty serious personal problems around this time, so we had to scramble to get other rides, which led to a lot of missed shows. Shelter came through the area and I drove up this show with Crystal and…

h2o, Kill Your Idols, Suicidal Tendencies, Vision
This show was sometime in August of 1998 and I went up to New York City with our pal Ariel Vacs. For some stupid reason, we decided to drive into New York City and got lost, but ended up parking in some random street and then heading to the show. We missed Kill Your Idols, who had a nice buzz about them after their first LP had come out maybe six months before, but got inside the show right as Vision started to play. They may have had the “Kids” album out by then, but they definitely played some of…

By The Grace Of God, Fury Of V, h2o, Hands Tied, Skarhead, Suicidal Tendencies
This show happened in early 1998 I think. I remember Tim announcing it at the By The Grace Of God show in Yardley back in December. I don’t remember a lot about this show other than that h2o were horrible, BUT they covered “I Want More” by Suicidal Tendencies at the end of their set, which got the crowd really going. That is seriously all I remember about this show.

We put out Parade Brigade Fanzine #1 in the spring of 1999. I have no idea what show we released it for, but I think it was at Manville Elks Lodge. Maybe. Amendment 18 Demo This band has members of a number of bands (Insted, Chorus Of Disapproval, Outspoken, etc) I had different expectations for this demo expecting more moshy stuff, but I got straight forward hardcore with interesting breakdowns. Lyrically, this isn’t as “militant,” as xChorusx was, but good all around especially “Eulogy.” I look forward to more. BW Bane Holding This Moment Equal Vision Records Bane sort of…

It’s so funny to me that my students still go to this thing and are super psyched on it. Back in the nineties, this seemed so corporate and annoying. I cannot even imagine what it is like now, but I guess FESTS are this massively normal thing now, so whatever. No one seems to blink an eye either at the expense of these shows either. I only went to this because I got onto some kind of promotional guest list. The local record store got some passes so they gave me one and a few friends of mine got them…

t seems that I make an annual trek now to This Is Hardcore for at least one of the days. A few of my friends went to see Tragedy the night before, but I had to wrap up grading for a summer class so I could not go. I wanted to clear out grading so I had the weekend to myself so I could see Judge. I thought I left for the show early enough to catch World War IV, but some traffic miscues and finding parking meant I only caught their last two or three songs. They sounded good…

It is hilarious how infamous this show has become over the years, but, uh, yeah…it was pretty good… Floorpunch came back from their European tour in the 1999 and seemed to drop off the face of the earth. They were supposed to play a gig that May with Vision and In My Eyes (where a bunch of pics from their second LP were taken. Oh, look, it’s me!) at Berkeley Heights, but dropped off (and so did Vision and I think h2o too. In My Eyes ended up headlining…I think…we will get to that show eventually) and then word seemed…

This was, I think, the first time I went to a show in New York City. I went with a few of the local skinheads, this girl Jessica and her boyfriend Chris, and I think someone else tagged along. They wanted to see The Business; I really wanted to see War Zone. After the hour and a half or so drive from the shore, we met up with some of their friends and a few of mine, who informed us that War Zone were filiming a video at the show (see above). I remember standing on line for a long…
