By The Grace Of God-CR-Deadguy-Transmeggettti @ Manville Elks Lodge Manville NJ 1-18-97

The first thing I remember about this show was that it was FREEZING outside. A snow storm had come in a few days before the temperature dove down with it. Sitting in the back of a friend’s truck with no heat was a pretty brutal experience. What pissed me off though was he just called us a bunch of wimps. The same dude who fucking cried and made us listen to weak shit like Lifetime whenever a girl breathed near him. TransMegetti were a local emo band that one of the Tesi Brothers and Brian Strahele (also ex Hogans Heroes)…

In The Blink Of An Eye Fanzine #2: The Reviews

These were the reviews from In The Blink Of An Eye Fanzine #2 (#1 was a brief one pager that a few of these reviews appeared in originally). After a few issues of What Was Said, I switched names and tried pretty unsuccessfully to reboot the fanzine. A lot of the same problems that plagued WWS were all over this one too. This came out in the summer of 1998. I am thinking late in the month of August perhaps? I did not do another fanzine for about eight months before the first issue of Parade Brigade Fanzine came together.…

Tied Down-Arcane-Time’s Up-Bloodrust-Tonsul at Bates Lodge in Red Bank, NJ 6-6-96

Crystal and I went to this show and maybe Chris Morris too? She was friends with the dudes in Tied Down, so I think we headed up to this show to check them out. All the bands were video recorded except for Tied Down, who were new school chugga chugga kind of stuff. Let’s say they actually covered Earth Crisis and that is a pretty good description of them. Arcane were noisy, super technical, hardcore that was a few years ahead of the trends. Members of this band were later in Dillinger Escape Plan, which totally makes sense when you…

Signifying Nothing Top 100 Of The Nineties

Four years late, here is the final list.  One thing I’ve noticed as I put this together is that there is a great lack of compilations on this list.  A lot of the decent compilations in the nineties have great songs, but also terrible ones.  I still feel like I am missing something obvious… 1.6 Band, Self Titled LP, USA, 1992 Acme, Self Titled 7″, Belgium, 1994 All Chrome, Flounders Flyers College & Canada LP, USA, 1999 Arms Reach, Self Titled 7″, Australia, 1998 Assuck, State To State 7″, USA, 1993 Aus-Rotten, Fuck Nazi Sympathy, USA, 1994 Bastard, Wind Of…

108-Creation. Sustenance. Destruction.

108 Creation. Sustenance. Destruction. CD Equal Vision Records In 2006 I have pretty mixed feelings about 108. On one hand, I think they were a pretty interesting band who pushed the envelope on what can and can’t be deemed “hardcore.” I also think, listening to this now, that they got a lot better as they went on. The Krishna stuff: eh, whatever. While I find the views of Krishna’s about women and a few other things to be quite disturbing, 108 have always seemed to defy those stereotypes. Thus this discography is a mix of good and bad. Like a…

Newz U Can Uze

Holy crap, a lot of Newz U Can Uze After a couple years of work, Bridge Nine Records is going to be putting out the Schism Fanzine book. I have not had originals of the Schism issues in a couple years, so I am excited to check it out again. In sort of Schism related news, Ronny Little has a new interview with Alex Brown up about Schism’s precursor Loveseat. Porcell is now playing guitar for Bold yet again. I am not really a fan, but good luck to those guys. I am looking forward to the Generations compilation on…

Parade Brigade #2 Intro Bust

These are our personal pages from Parade Brigade #2. Again, mine is very brief. #2 All I have to say is it’s good to be back! It has been a really long time between issues, shit happens, things just get in the way. In the future we will hopefully be doing this more often. Things have been hectic and priorities change. I can no longer spend 24/7 on hardcore even though I somehow get sucked into doing it sometimes. Hardcore is in my blood, this is the kind of thing which will keep me involved in the scene. I love…

Parade Brigade #1

This is our personal pages from Parade Brigade #1. Nothing much to say here. The Spazz interview was actually in #1 (but the H-Street interview we mention later on wasn’t, huh?). The Kill Your Idols, Speak 714, Purpose, and Nerve Agents interviews are still unreleased to this day. We never got around to interviewing In My Eyes. Parade Brigade #1 Well, well, a new zine. John and I have combined forces and are now doing a zine together. ITBOAE is dead; not that anyone gives a fuck, but hey why not mention it? I figure fuck, I am the negative…
