25 Ta Life

I did this interview with Rick Healey of the band 25 Ta Life via mail in June of 1996 *** What are the band members names? Beto-GuitarRick-Vocals Harry-Drums Warren-Bass Fred-Guitar *** How long have you guys been together? 25 Ta Life first started in February of 1993 after I went on tour with Agnostic Front. I came back from the tour, Agnostic Front was breaking up, and I wanted to start a band similar to Agnostic Front; a band about the scene, about sticking together, to educate the kids, to motivate people, and get them active doing fanzines, helping each…

Henry Rollins-Live At Luna Park

Henry Rollins Live At Luna Park DVD  The idea for this one was for Henry to appear at Luna Park each Wednesday for a month. Each time he was to present a completely different show and the “best of” would be compiled for this DVD. For a person like Henry who talks for a long time (over three hours last time I saw him!) it would be very interesting to come up with new stuff each week. There is some great stuff on here. Some highlights include-  Henry talks about working on Batman Beyond. His description of older Bruce’s deep…

Our Turn-Catch Your Breath

Our Turn Catch Your Breath 7” Youngblood Records This band features MRR columnist Carl Cordova. This is decent straight edge hardcore in the vein of all of the classics. For some reason, I thought a couple of songs were a bit too long but that could just be me. If you enjoy this stuff, I think you will love this record; if you are a bit sick of this style as I am, or were never really into it, you may want to pass. I bet this band is good live though. Judge for yourself-Check out an mp3 over on…

Mind Eraser

Mind Eraser are my favorite hardcore band right now. I was very impressed by their demo and then totally blown away by the Cave LP. I did this interview last week with Chris Corry. *** Was releasing the demo online a conscious choice the band made? In the age of $5 demo tapes and CDR demos that can hold 80 minutes of music but only have three songs on them, it was quite refreshing to see the Mind Eraser stuff online for everyone with a net connection to be able to check out. Nah it wasn’t really any kind of…

Reach The Sky

I did this interview with Ian from the band Reach The Sky via email in December of 1998. *** So let’s put the rumors to rest: Are you signing with Victory or Indecision? We signed to Victory Records. Indecision was interested earlier and we talked, but Victory is where we wanted to go. It’s definitely the best fit for us. *** 2. Why did you sign to Victory and what are you putting out with them? Well, we are releasing a seven inch in March of 1999 to lay the groundwork for a full length in the early summer. The…

One Up

Anthony did this interview for the never released Fuck Rock Fanzine in 2002. 1. Who is in the band?  How did you guys start out? One Up is Greg Polard on vocals, Jude Miller on guitar, Donny Mutt on guitar (that’s me), Ryan Rayburn on drums and Brian Cavanaugh on bass. The band started one day when Greg Polard realized that GO TIME was pretty much all but broken up. They just got a new drummer and after playing about 3 shows into a 7 day tour he decided he didn’t want to do the band anymore. A month or…

Full Speed Ahead

Back in 1997 a few days after seeing S.O.D. and War Zone on consecutive days, we went to see Spazz play in Red Bank. Our curiosity was peaked by a band called Full Speed Ahead, were advertised on the flyer as having ex members of Human Remains, a band that we really liked. We did not get the type of band that we were expecting to get, but what we heard really impressed us. After getting free demos from the band (they gave them out through mail, how cool is that?) I knew I had to interview them. Not really…

Youth Of Today

I included this interview on the backside of Not Normal Fanzine. I cannot remember what about this one particularly stuck out for me to have reprinted it, but here it is. At the time, Not Normal was going to have a reprint (some of which will end up on here, including Rorschach, Bl’ast!, Raw Power, and more) but a 2nd issue never came out… *** Bessie Oakley did this interview with Ray and Porcell for Maximum Rock + Roll Wake up and live, breath every breath Wake up and live, until my death… “’Wake Up and Live’ is about living…

Ensign

We did this interview at Princeton Arts Council in May of 1998. I believe this show was with Speak 714, Rain On The Parade, and Automatic. I can’t really tell you about what they are doing these days, but at the time we all really liked Ensign. A lot of my memories of that era have been soured over the years, but we used to have a lot of fun whenever Ensign played. Their first 7” has held up pretty well over the years. Justin and I handled most of the questions. When I went to type this up I…

Floorpunch

This interview was done in January of 1999 for Parade Brigade #1. Originally, John and I were going to do an interview with Porter but that fell through so we sat down with Bill and later Zev and Kingshot at the Melody Bar in New Brunswick NJ after their show with Fast Times, Parting Shot, and some others. *** Parade Brigade Staff in Bold Bill-OK so who is in the band (why did I ask this?) Bill Punch-You know that, you can write it down. *** Bill-What happened with Lana’s show in South Carolina? Bill Punch-We canceled it. We canceled…
