Parade Brigade #3

Parade Brigade #3 was thrown together in about 72 hours and it shows. John and I were driving to school on a Wednesday morning and I suddenly just had to have it out for a show that Friday evening. Both interviews in this issue (Fit For Abuse + Shark Attack) were done sometime that week and most of it was haphazardly laid out the night before at about 3am by me. I think John did not even get his page to me until right before we left for the copy place. We just totally sucked at this at that time.…

Newz U Can Uze

Holy crap, a lot of Newz U Can Uze After a couple years of work, Bridge Nine Records is going to be putting out the Schism Fanzine book. I have not had originals of the Schism issues in a couple years, so I am excited to check it out again. In sort of Schism related news, Ronny Little has a new interview with Alex Brown up about Schism’s precursor Loveseat. Porcell is now playing guitar for Bold yet again. I am not really a fan, but good luck to those guys. I am looking forward to the Generations compilation on…

Parade Brigade #2 Intro Bust

These are our personal pages from Parade Brigade #2. Again, mine is very brief. #2 All I have to say is it’s good to be back! It has been a really long time between issues, shit happens, things just get in the way. In the future we will hopefully be doing this more often. Things have been hectic and priorities change. I can no longer spend 24/7 on hardcore even though I somehow get sucked into doing it sometimes. Hardcore is in my blood, this is the kind of thing which will keep me involved in the scene. I love…

The Faith

We reprinted this one in Parade Brigade #3. Originally in Touch & Go Fanzine. So what do you play (To Iver)? Iver-Premier Drum Set, five toms, and seven cymbals Sounds pretty wealthy Chris-I’ve basically got a Fender Precision bass with a piece of shit body and they sanded the sticker off so nobody would believe me, and I broke the other one… Mike-I have Marlboro thirty seven watts of hell amp… So you guys played at CBGB’s…garsh… Iver-Yeah that was December 26th, 1981 It must have been a thrill Chris-Yeah because today I was looking at a Blondie book and…

Saves The Day

Mike McKenna did this interview for me in the spring of 1998. * 1. First off, tell me who’s in the band and who does what? Sean plays bass, Bryan plays the drumkit, Anthony and Justin play the guitars, and Chris sings. * 2. Give me some bio information if you could? Well, personally, I played in Mouthpiece for several years and then started a band called Hands Tied. After quitting Hands Tied, I got together with Chris, Bryan, and Justin and started Saves The Day in the late spring of 1997. Anthony did a band called Purpose previously to…

Siege

We reprinted this one in Parade Brigade #2. Originally in Suburban Punk Fanzine. A relatively new band on the local scene is Siege. Although they haven’t done a Boston gig yet, this intense 4 piece have been making waves with their aggressive, gripping live shows in Western Mass. and Providence. They have a 6-song demo out now, done at Radiobeat in February. Siege’s sound could be likened to a train going around a curve at top speed, about to derail but never quite going completely out of control and going off the track. Andy and I talked to Siege outside…

Arms Reach

I did this one with Luke through the mail sometime in early 1999. Arms Reach were one of the best bands of the 90’s, I wish there was a proper discography so more people could be turned on to these guys. Who is in the band? The Arms Reach unit consists of Christy (22)-guitar, Amy (21)-guitar, Squelchy (22)-drums, Ben “bass of death” (22)-bass, and me, Luke Crew (23) on vocals. I think it’s really cool that you guys did a split demo, how did that come about? Well both us and Found My Direction started around the same time (March…

Parade Brigade #1

This is our personal pages from Parade Brigade #1. Nothing much to say here. The Spazz interview was actually in #1 (but the H-Street interview we mention later on wasn’t, huh?). The Kill Your Idols, Speak 714, Purpose, and Nerve Agents interviews are still unreleased to this day. We never got around to interviewing In My Eyes. Parade Brigade #1 Well, well, a new zine. John and I have combined forces and are now doing a zine together. ITBOAE is dead; not that anyone gives a fuck, but hey why not mention it? I figure fuck, I am the negative…

Hands Tied

I did this one with Tim from Hands Tied in September of 1997. Pictures by me and Casey Kulas. What is the history of Hands Tied and what is the current lineup now? Hands Tied started around the same time Mouthpiece was calling it quits. I guess it was sometime early summer 1996. Hands Tied was an idea that came up during the 1995 Mouthpiece summer tour. At the time, we knew that Mouthpiece was going to be coming to an end soon. Matt, the guitarist from Mouthpiece, Ed the Mouthpiece roadie, and myself (Tim) all talked about starting a…

97a

My friend Carson and I did this interview in the parking lot of the Casino Skate Park in 1999. The It’s In Our Power record had just came on and 97a played a great show with Full Speed Ahead. I really dove into the 97a vault to ask questions about demo songs and a lot of stuff they had not been playing in a bunch of years. Originally in Parade Brigade #1 *** Bill-I guess first off who is in 97a and all? Chris-Chris, vocals Clint-Clint, Bass Todd-Todd, Guitar Chris-Rob’s not here but he’s our drummer now *** Bill-You guys…
