Underdog-Wide Awake-Vision-Up Front-Fast Times at Middlesex County College in Edison, NJ November 1998

Wide Awake played without their singer. Craig from Follow Through/Fear Tomorrow/etc did vocals. I remember they had some new songs that were more of a later Dischord Records style sound. I think there is a demo too? I was never a big Wide Awake fan. Everything after the intro quickly has diminishing results. Underdog were fine at this show, but you could start to tell some people in the band might not be as into the reunion thing as others. I remember a lot of diving at this show to the point where people were sitting down to be launched…

Vision-Rain On The Parade-OS 101-All Things Considered-Black Turns Green at Melody Bar in New Brunswick, NJ 11-2-97

We went up to this show with OS 101 in their van I think along with Jenn West and a few other people. They got a decent reaction, which was always pretty hit or miss for them. I don’t remember anything from Rain On The Parade’s set. Black Turns Green had future members of Purpose. All Things Considered had members of Uprise and a few other MCYC bands. They did a demo…this might have been their last show? Vision were good and definitely played You and I!!

Vision-Get Real in Waretown 8-20-04

This show was at some BBQ in their special event room or something. It was really weird. I had spent the afternoon writing two position papers to wrap up a course at Stockton and then hooked up with Dave Flynn and this dude Mike we hung out with to drive the 15 minutes or whatever to Waretown. This show happened just as Signifying Nothing was taking off, so I took some pictures of Get Real. They were cool and we were friends with all those dudes. Vision were cool at this show even though not that many people were there.…

Vision-Count Me Out at Montclair, NJ Spring 2000

I remember I worked all day and then we drove up to this show, which was quite a hike from Manahawkin. I spent a lot of time hanging out at this show outside, so I have no idea who else played besides Count Me Out. Vision had a new record out, so their set was littered with songs from it plus all the classics like Falling Apart, which you can see above. We must have rolled with two cars of people, because there are a ton of Manahawkin kids at this show. I had not eaten all day, so you…

Murphy’s Law-Vision-To Each His Own @ Casino Skate Park In Asbury Park NJ 5-24-98

When I ran into this video on Youtube, I could barely remember this show but could very clearlyv see myself stage diving to both Animosity Overkill and Falling Apart, so I must have been there, right? Then I sort of remembered that this show was with Murphy’s Law and later confirmed it was in the spring of 1998. What is up with the chin beard on me AND floorpunching backwards at one point? Who knows. I remember Murphy’s Law were really good at this show. They stuck to the hits and did not do any bullshit like play dub songs…

Vision At The Down Under in New Brunswick, NJ 1-5-08

When I was in graduate school, I did not go to a lot of shows. I really felt pretty insular and basically just kept to a friend that I paled around with for my first year. She and I were very close, but she was away with family for most of winter break, so I headed up to this show with Justin and met up with some friends. I know nothing about the other bands that played because we just all hung out at a table and chatted. I also met up with a few old friends that I had…

h2o-Vision-Kill Your Idols Wetlands August 1998

This show was sometime in August of 1998 and I went up to New York City with our pal Ariel Vacs. For some stupid reason, we decided to drive into New York City and got lost, but ended up parking in some random street and then heading to the show. We missed Kill Your Idols, who had a nice buzz about them after their first LP had come out maybe six months before, but got inside the show right as Vision started to play. They may have had the “Kids” album out by then, but they definitely played some of…

Vision-Ensign-The Fire Still Burns at Brighton Bar in West Long Branch, NJ 4-2-05

I do not remember a ton about this show, but as you can from Sam’s photos I am all over this show. The Fire Still Burns were a new band that Nate from Ensign was in with some other people who were in big bands during the nineties. They had a melodic sound, but not really my thing. They seemed to play a lot of shows for awhile. Did Ensign actually play this show? I think they did, but I do not remember anything about them. Vision’s set was pretty subdued because I think a friend of the band had…

Vision-Ensign-The Purpose-Saves The Day In Somerset NJ 7-21-97

This show was at Aaron Leonovich’s parents house. Aaron was a nice kid a few years older than me who did Special Forces Records (who put out records by Saves The Day, Breakdown, Purpose, etc) and was around the scene for a lot of years. He did one of the early website I remember from a hardcore kid. I used to check out Talk Is Cheap every morning. This show was in a really nice neighborhood I remember hardcore kids kind of just hanging out all over the place. The basement was huge and there was plenty of room for…
