7 Seconds, Cro-Mags, Embrace, Inside Out, Life's Blood, No Contest, Purpose, Second Choice Fanzine, Uprise, War Zone
I don’t think there was a flyer for this show? I think one or two other bands might have played this show, but I don’t remember who else they were. This might have been the first time I saw Purpose and I remember they covered Inside Out and Embrace, which seemed so out of left field in comparison to the youth crew style that was so popular at the time. I think a lot of people checked out Purpose, at first at least, not only because they were a decent band, but because their style was so different from what…

We put out Parade Brigade Fanzine #1 in the spring of 1999. I have no idea what show we released it for, but I think it was at Manville Elks Lodge. Maybe. Amendment 18 Demo This band has members of a number of bands (Insted, Chorus Of Disapproval, Outspoken, etc) I had different expectations for this demo expecting more moshy stuff, but I got straight forward hardcore with interesting breakdowns. Lyrically, this isn’t as “militant,” as xChorusx was, but good all around especially “Eulogy.” I look forward to more. BW Bane Holding This Moment Equal Vision Records Bane sort of…

All three “staff members” did reviews for issue two. BW=Bill Wend, John=John Piorkowski, Ferret=Justin Bragg I got a ton of shit in the weeks before that In My Eyes record came out. I got it in the mail, listened a few times, and posted one morning on the Rev Board that I did not like it. I said it reminded me of Better Than A Thousand and was kind of shitty. I went to class and came back to this huge thread about what a fag/loser/pussy I was. LOL. Oh noes, I didn’t like your precious friend’s band and their…

American Nightmare, Breakdown, Burn, Cro-Mags, Crusade, Dave Flynn, Frontline, Merauder, Skarhead, Suicidal Tendencies
I am going to take on both of the shows because it is just easier… So suddenly the Cro-Mags were playing shows again, but this time it was with John, Doug, Mackie, and even Harley (and also Rocky George, ex of Suicidal Tendencies, although I don’t think he played on the good record). They played these two shows at CBGB in May of 2001, but I swear they also played the Continental before this. I need to check up on that. Either way, you bet we were going to be there. I love that when I was in college all…

It is hilarious how infamous this show has become over the years, but, uh, yeah…it was pretty good… Floorpunch came back from their European tour in the 1999 and seemed to drop off the face of the earth. They were supposed to play a gig that May with Vision and In My Eyes (where a bunch of pics from their second LP were taken. Oh, look, it’s me!) at Berkeley Heights, but dropped off (and so did Vision and I think h2o too. In My Eyes ended up headlining…I think…we will get to that show eventually) and then word seemed…

Awesome Saint Vitus set from last fall. Their newest record is not too bad… *** Integrity Systems Overload Organized Crime Records Even though Integrity, well, the classic lineup at least, is one of my favorite bands, there has always been something about Systems Overload that seemed a bit off to me. While great, of course, I found myself sometimes losing interest in it for years at a time unlike their classic Humanity Is The Devil album. This remixed version, done directly by A2, completely changes things. I can now see why some of my friends swear by this album as…

Bad Brains, Cro-Mags, DRI
Uh, the Cro-Mags are playing? Sign me up. A big bonus for this show was that DRI was also playing (and headlining, not that it really matters). I drove up to Sayerville on a rainy, rotten evening that made me feel miserable as I made my way up the Parkway. I left late, hoping to miss the openers, but I ended up getting lost in the actual town of Sayerville, which killed another 20 minutes or so. The venue’s website said it was “easy” to get to the venue, but despite that I could not find my supposed exit off Route 9. I…

Agnostic Front, Cro-Mags, Ensign, Inhuman, Leeway, Madball, Shutdown, The Last Stand
After hearing that Agnostic Front was doing a “theme” set for their thirtieth anniversary of the “Live At CB’s” set, I figured I should check it out. Now, obviously, I am not exactly the biggest fan of their newer work. Actually, I don’t like any AF records post Victim In Pain. Nevertheless, the live record is pretty ill and in a live setting songs like Toxic Shock and Strength sound great. I can definitely get into that. I made the trek up to Asbury Park after a quiet day of errands and just hanging out. I caught the last few…

Nomos Demo Great 82 style hardcore from this New York band. There are a lot of modern influences on this band’s demo including Cold Sweat, The Snobs, and other, hey, early 00 bands. I would like to hear more. Our Side Demo Really raw, late eighties, influenced hardcore in the vein of Release, Youth Of Today, and Four Walls Falling. With a better recording, I sense this band could be pretty good. I want to hear more. Pigsticker Demo I really like this demo. Pigsticker reminds me a cross between Circle Jerks and Necros with sloppy, raw, production values that sounds pretty authentic to the early eighties…
