Leeway-Heavy Chains-Krust-Vengeance-Full Circle @ Brick NJ 7-29-16

I really got around during this day and got to experience some personal history again. I started on my own campus to drop off something and then headed down to Stockton for lunch with one of my former professors. THEN I headed down the shore to see my parents for a few hours and THEN headed up to Brick for the show. This EMS hall was where I saw my first shows in 1994. I don’t remember a ton about them, but we went there two or three times. One time a friend’s car overheated, which meant we had to…

7 Seconds @ New York City NY 3-14-05

I do not remember who else played this show. Maybe h2o or Kill Your Idols???? My big memory of this show was how hot it was inside the venue. By the end of it I had to sit down in a corner and try to cool down. I felt absolutely awful. Apologies to Kevin Seconds for accidentally kicking him in the head while trying to dive during 99 Red Ballons.

Top Ten Records Of 2016

I realized as I began reading the lists that other people put together I have heard very little new music this year. What I did check out was mostly exceptional. Crucial Intentions @ Manahawkin NJ Spring 1999

This show was at someone’s house I think, in a shed. I sang a Madball cover for them while I was really sick. I ended up going home and getting sick to my stomach and sleeping for like an entire day. They also covered a Brotherhood song. Did they record anything? I want to say there was a tape. That younger group of straight edge kids, already two generations removed from my crew, by then was not really hanging around with me, but they did with my brother. He might know better than I would.

Tied Down-Commin Correct-Others? @ Red Bank NJ August 1996

This was a big end of summer show in Red Bank. I remember Tied Down playing, but they may have switched their name to Prospect by then? I think Rich might have organized this show even? There was a flyer for sure, but I do not seem to have it. Commin Correct definitely played this show. I had interviewed Rick earlier in the summer and this show served as the debut for my first fanzine Assimilation Or Oblivion. I began wanting to interview Mouthpiece, Hardware Fanzine, and Fastbreak, and ended up with h2o (that a friend did) and 25 Ta…

Purpose @ Lakewood NJ Spring 1999

I am pretty sure four or five bands played this show, but I have no memories of them. This may have been the first show Purpose had their Alpha and Omega record available for, I think, because I remember getting a red one from them. One of the members of the band added a hand written note to my insert, which was nice. That is all I have for this one.

Vision @ Pomona NJ December 12-13-02

So I could go to class all day and then see Vision at night? Awesome! On Fridays that semester, I only had one class (a seminar on Homer), so after it finished (2pm?) I left campus for a bit, probably to the Barnes and Noble down the road by the mall, and then came back to campus to have dinner with a friend and then head to the gig. It was weird walking across campus and recognizing the cars of some friends parked on campus. A few bands played before Vision, but I hung out with friends and then met…

Degenerics-Endeavor-Worthless-Dead Nation-The Illbilly Boys-Bankshot 18 @ Casino Skate Park Asbury Park NJ 6-26-98

So this show was fine and all, but my big memory of it is the night before someone IM’d me claiming to be Matt Molnar and said they would get me on their guest list. I knew Matt pretty well, so I thought this was cool and headed up to the show. He had no idea what I was talking about and it turned out I had been pranked. I could have laughed it off, but I was actually pretty pissed. So three or four years go by and I finally figured out who it was that did it. This…
