These were the reviews from In The Blink Of An Eye Fanzine #2 (#1 was a brief one pager that a few of these reviews appeared in originally). After a few issues of What Was Said, I switched names and tried pretty unsuccessfully to reboot the fanzine. A lot of the same problems that plagued WWS were all over this one too. This came out in the summer of 1998. I am thinking late in the month of August perhaps? I did not do another fanzine for about eight months before the first issue of Parade Brigade Fanzine came together.…

Blind Society, Kill Your Idols, Tears Of Frustration, Ten Yard Fight, War Zone
This show was actually sort of imfamous because Ten Yard Fight apparently broke up a day or two before the show (and would play a final show at the idiotic “Edge Day” thing later in the year). Kill Your Idols also cancelled at the last minute, which I ended up fielding a bunch of calls about. I think my phone number got attached to the show contact info somehow? I showed up to the show after work and caught a few of Tears of Frustration’s songs. I remember they were playing a War Zone cover as I parked, which was…

h2o, Kill Your Idols, Suicidal Tendencies, Vision
This show was sometime in August of 1998 and I went up to New York City with our pal Ariel Vacs. For some stupid reason, we decided to drive into New York City and got lost, but ended up parking in some random street and then heading to the show. We missed Kill Your Idols, who had a nice buzz about them after their first LP had come out maybe six months before, but got inside the show right as Vision started to play. They may have had the “Kids” album out by then, but they definitely played some of…

We put out Parade Brigade Fanzine #1 in the spring of 1999. I have no idea what show we released it for, but I think it was at Manville Elks Lodge. Maybe. Amendment 18 Demo This band has members of a number of bands (Insted, Chorus Of Disapproval, Outspoken, etc) I had different expectations for this demo expecting more moshy stuff, but I got straight forward hardcore with interesting breakdowns. Lyrically, this isn’t as “militant,” as xChorusx was, but good all around especially “Eulogy.” I look forward to more. BW Bane Holding This Moment Equal Vision Records Bane sort of…

All three “staff members” did reviews for issue two. BW=Bill Wend, John=John Piorkowski, Ferret=Justin Bragg I got a ton of shit in the weeks before that In My Eyes record came out. I got it in the mail, listened a few times, and posted one morning on the Rev Board that I did not like it. I said it reminded me of Better Than A Thousand and was kind of shitty. I went to class and came back to this huge thread about what a fag/loser/pussy I was. LOL. Oh noes, I didn’t like your precious friend’s band and their…

I haven’t seen Supertouch since the middle of the nineties or so, so I was pretty excited about seeing them. Especially since it was an all ages show as well. I’ve heard mixed reviews of recent Supertouch gigs, but checking some videos on Youtube made it seem like they were tight and played all the classics people in New Jersey want to hear. After a day of teaching, I went home and ate dinner and then hung out for a few hours before making the hourish trek up to Asbury Park. I missed a few of the openers, including Born…

Anti Heroes, Black SS, Kill Your Idols, Organized Crime Records, Raining Bricks, Slapshot
Black SS/Raining Bricks Split EP Organized Crime Records After hearing Black SS again I pretty much feel the same way I did previously. These guys are pretty good; they remind me a lot of very early Kill Your Idols. The vocalist sounds a lot like Choke. Yet, I am not really feeling this record. Raining Bricks are very similar. They sort of sound like Black SS. For some reason the first band to come to mind is The Anti Heroes. Huh? This is fast, slightly OI! sounding hardcore that I’m sure will have a captive audience. Mine came on red…

Black SS, Kill Your Idols, Slapshot, Third Party Records
Black SS Self Titled EP Third Party Records Black SS has been hyped a lot lately. Hearing a metal free band from Syracuse is quite refreshing. Black SS play 82 inspired hardcore that reminds me a lot of Slapshot and Kill Your Idols. This is straight forward and a little OI! Influenced (ala Slapshot) at times. Ultimately, while this is pretty good, it doesn’t really grab me. I’m curious to hear more though.

This is our personal pages from Parade Brigade #1. Nothing much to say here. The Spazz interview was actually in #1 (but the H-Street interview we mention later on wasn’t, huh?). The Kill Your Idols, Speak 714, Purpose, and Nerve Agents interviews are still unreleased to this day. We never got around to interviewing In My Eyes. Parade Brigade #1 Well, well, a new zine. John and I have combined forces and are now doing a zine together. ITBOAE is dead; not that anyone gives a fuck, but hey why not mention it? I figure fuck, I am the negative…
