Burn, Count Me Out, Most Precious Blood, Striking Distance, Time Flies
I hated every moment of this show besides when Burn was playing more or less. First, it was disgustingly hot. The AC in my car broke, so when it began raining as we went over the bridge, I had to open my windows a bit so they would not fog up, which meant everyone got wet. Le Tigre, Parade Brigade Fanzine
I dated someone around this time who was really heavily into queercore and riot grrrl bands, so I dove a bit deeper into those scenes than a previously had (which, before this, was mostly for the mighty Team Dresch, whose Personal Best album is the Age of Quarrel of queer core) in the past, which had mostly been wading my toes in and checking out the bigger bands. 97a, Last In Line, Shark Attack, Tear It Up, Think I Care
I have no memory of Think I Care or Last In Line from this show. I think I went to go get dinner or something after working all day. Shark Attack were great and covered Last Rites. I’m all over that video going off really hard. Tear It Up broke open this big doll and the fuzz from inside it broke all over the floor. There was a lot of drama about 97a playing this show. Full Speed Ahead, SOV
This show was the night of John’s graduation from Southern. I had a party with my family for mine and like two friends showed. A show is much better! This was a Tuesday night I think, so the show was sparsely attended for sure. SOV were a local punk band which members eventually ended up in Full Speed Ahead actually. Agnostic Front, Death Threat, Deathreat, Fit For Abuse
We totally blew it at this show. Obviously, the draw here was Fit For Abuse but we left pretty late and ended up missing them. We got there just as Death Threat (sadly not Deathreat) began playing. Agnostic Front set up and Roger went into some variation on “This is our first song, from our first album…” and the place went off. Bluetip, Ink & Dagger, No Escape, Northern Mistep, Quicksand, Swiz
This show was super frustrating. Northern Mistep were supposed to be, as the flyer says, ex Swiz and No Escape but I am pretty sure they did not play the show. A few bands played before Bluetip, but I have no idea who they were and just hung out in the crowd. Bluetip did have members of Swiz, but sounded like pretty bland Quicksand style stuff. I was going to make it a three day weekened after the Breakdown show the day before with a Ten Yard Fight show in Philadelphia on Sunday, but I busted up my hand real bad at this show. Kaboom!, Le Tigre
(This was 4040, right?) I ended up going to see Le Tigre again a few months later. I think they had, or were about to put out, a new record around this time? After a nightmare trying to find parking, I met up with some friends and headed to the show.
