Farside, Fastbreak, Floorpunch, Four One One, In My Eyes, Revelation Records, Saves The Day, Smash Mouth
During the summer of 1999, I did not get out much, a combination of a few creepy internet threats, some pretty severe depression, and work issues, but I ended up heading up to this show and met up with this young lady I was not quite dating, but definitely trying to head in that direction with, at this show. This show was absolutely horrible. I showed up late to this show because I had to stop on campus while heading up to the show. I do not exactly remember why I stopped on campus, but it might have involved dropping…

We put out Parade Brigade Fanzine #1 in the spring of 1999. I have no idea what show we released it for, but I think it was at Manville Elks Lodge. Maybe. Amendment 18 Demo This band has members of a number of bands (Insted, Chorus Of Disapproval, Outspoken, etc) I had different expectations for this demo expecting more moshy stuff, but I got straight forward hardcore with interesting breakdowns. Lyrically, this isn’t as “militant,” as xChorusx was, but good all around especially “Eulogy.” I look forward to more. BW Bane Holding This Moment Equal Vision Records Bane sort of…

All three “staff members” did reviews for issue two. BW=Bill Wend, John=John Piorkowski, Ferret=Justin Bragg I got a ton of shit in the weeks before that In My Eyes record came out. I got it in the mail, listened a few times, and posted one morning on the Rev Board that I did not like it. I said it reminded me of Better Than A Thousand and was kind of shitty. I went to class and came back to this huge thread about what a fag/loser/pussy I was. LOL. Oh noes, I didn’t like your precious friend’s band and their…

It is hilarious how infamous this show has become over the years, but, uh, yeah…it was pretty good… Floorpunch came back from their European tour in the 1999 and seemed to drop off the face of the earth. They were supposed to play a gig that May with Vision and In My Eyes (where a bunch of pics from their second LP were taken. Oh, look, it’s me!) at Berkeley Heights, but dropped off (and so did Vision and I think h2o too. In My Eyes ended up headlining…I think…we will get to that show eventually) and then word seemed…

Agnostic Front, Floorpunch, Fury Of V, Hatebreed, Madball, Second To None
Wait, why is a Floorpunch video above? Well, I skipped that Floorpunch gig because I went to see Madball either the day before or the next day. I think at least. I am pretty sure I could only have one night off, so I went to see Madball. Odd choice? Not really. Madball were one of the best, if not best, live bands of that era. I think CJ and I went to this show. I don’t remember who else played this besides these bands, but maybe Second To None did too? I don’t really remember anything about Fury Of…

My first show of 1997 was in Bordentown, NJ at the Fieldsboro VFW (which apparently doesn’t exist anymore?). When I began teaching at BCC in 2009, I noticed I drove near Bordentown every day on my commute and it always made me think of the shows I went to at this venue (Also, Vincenttown. Do the punks still slam there?). I missed the two other Floorpunch shows here (one with Rain On The Parade and Vision, and the other with Human Remains and Earth Crisis). I went to this show with a bunch of friends, two of which, John Piorkowski…

A lot has been said about this show and how it ended, but more on that in a bit… I went to this show with my friend Crystal, who sadly died in 2001. Her mother Elizabeth, who was by far the coolest parent in our crew (more on her in a bit too) drove us up to Edison, dropped us off, and went…somewhere? Her sister’s house? Maybe? A LOT of bands played this show. Middlesex shows were typical five to eight bands, and then a few more added on. I only vaguely remember most of them and spent a lot…

Blind Justice, Fire & Ice, Floorpunch, Give, Hounds Of Hate, Mind Eraser, No Tolerance, The Boston Strangler, World War IV
I had double duty on this day: A show in the afternoon and then a date that night! I did that once before I think maybe about 12 years ago, but it would be a busy day for sure. I do not really remember the order of bands that played, so I will just run through them. I remember I got to the gig mostly on time, so I chilled outside clearing out my RSS reader and Flipboard until I met up with a friend who had some copies of one of my old fanzines for me. I met up…

Innumerable Forms Frozen To Death Tape Chris Corry and DFJ’s death metal project put out a seven inch a few years back, but this tape shows a lot of progression. The tape has two new songs and the three songs from their previous ep remixed for this new release. I am not so sure how many copies of this tape were made, but track it down if you enjoyed their seven inch. Confined Demo 2012 Pretty generic hardcore somewhere, I am not sure which is more of an influence, between Chain of Strength influenced bands like Champion and Count Me…

Floorpunch, Killing Time, Raw Deal, This Is Hardcore, Underdog
Killing Time (Full Set) from hate5six on Vimeo. The last time I saw Killing Time, they played right after a newly reunited Underdog to a half empty crowd. I went inside to check them out at This Is Hardcore and was pleasantly surprised to see them sticking to their good songs from the Raw Deal demo (the best ever?) and their Brightside LP, which I do not *love*. I hung out in the back and enjoyed their set, tempted to mosh after seeing a few friends bust it for New Release. I held to my “save it for Floorpunch” decree from earlier…
