Fists Of Fury
This Fists of Fury show became rather infamous around town because I got in a lot of trouble for photocopying the flyers at school. I was in media class, bored, so I went and copied some on one of the school’s copiers. I didn’t think much of it because I had done it before and no one seemed to care. I passed out some flyers in school and handed them to a few guys in my class who were kind of on the fringe of the hardcore scene, hoping they would show up. Well, a few periods go by and…

Cause For Alarm, Fists Of Fury, Minor Threat
A friend forwarded me this picture a few months ago and a flood of memories came back. Yes, that is me, shirtless (!!!), about to stage dive and the band playing is Fists Of Fury, who were the local hardcore band in our town. Fists of Fury did two (?) demos and sounded like a lot of early 82 NY/DC bands. They covered Cause For Alarm, Minor Threat, etc. This show was sometime in the summer of 1997. They just decided to play in the afternoon and busted it out. I think this is in the backyard of this kid…

Black Flag
“I’ve asked that myself before,” murmured Bill. “I thought that when I first saw people with them. I thought, what if everyone had one of those? Everyone? And I got scared, because I learned in the Bible about the devil and stuff, and everyone would have one of those 666s or whatever on their body… Who knows? What if everyone looked the same? What if everyone had the Black Flag bars tattooed on their arms? — Bill Stevenson Black Flag

Awesome Saint Vitus set from last fall. Their newest record is not too bad… *** Integrity Systems Overload Organized Crime Records Even though Integrity, well, the classic lineup at least, is one of my favorite bands, there has always been something about Systems Overload that seemed a bit off to me. While great, of course, I found myself sometimes losing interest in it for years at a time unlike their classic Humanity Is The Devil album. This remixed version, done directly by A2, completely changes things. I can now see why some of my friends swear by this album as…

Innumerable Forms Frozen To Death Tape Chris Corry and DFJ’s death metal project put out a seven inch a few years back, but this tape shows a lot of progression. The tape has two new songs and the three songs from their previous ep remixed for this new release. I am not so sure how many copies of this tape were made, but track it down if you enjoyed their seven inch. Confined Demo 2012 Pretty generic hardcore somewhere, I am not sure which is more of an influence, between Chain of Strength influenced bands like Champion and Count Me…

Max Roach
Max Roach’s Tears For Johannesburg comes from the 1960 album We Insist!. An absolute classic jazz record, this is probably my favorite Roach record as a band leader.

Floorpunch, Killing Time, Raw Deal, This Is Hardcore, Underdog
Killing Time (Full Set) from hate5six on Vimeo. The last time I saw Killing Time, they played right after a newly reunited Underdog to a half empty crowd. I went inside to check them out at This Is Hardcore and was pleasantly surprised to see them sticking to their good songs from the Raw Deal demo (the best ever?) and their Brightside LP, which I do not *love*. I hung out in the back and enjoyed their set, tempted to mosh after seeing a few friends bust it for New Release. I held to my “save it for Floorpunch” decree from earlier…
