By The Grace Of God-Up Front-Hands Tied-Rain On The Parade-Saves The Day-Rad At Yardley Community Center in Yardley, PA 12-20-97

This show is apparently pretty memorable, eh? On a personal silly level, this was the first show I did not X up for. Why do I remember this? I was just kind of bumming out hard. I had just finished a dreadful first semester of college and wasn’t really feeling it too well. But I remember the marker coming around and being all “eh” about it. I wrote about this in a fanzine at some point. We drove to this show with Ian Smith (OS 101) and I think Jenn West came along as well as our usual crew. We…

Some Reviews

These never went up last year I guess… Magic Circle Scream Evil People from the usual Boston bands come together to do this two song single of Late seventies and early eighties inspired Black Sabbath style metal. This reminds me a lot of the excellent Dio era record The Mob Rules. I have heard there is an LP out now? Manpig The Grand Negative Deep Six Records I love being proven wrong in hardcore, and the fact that this long rumoured record finally has happened is a great example of this. Manpig has been a legendarily rumoured band as long…

Underdog-Floorpunch-To Each His Own-Fahrenheit 451 at The Saint in Asbury Park, NJ December 1998

I remember very little about this show and had to ask a few people to remember much about it. I remember Rat Bones going off hard for Underdog. This was the show I think I first heard about the possibility of Mouthpiece playing some shows, which wouldn’t happen for another few years. Related: Someone in a big band at the time was chatting with a member of Mouthpiece at this show talking about how important Mouthpiece were and that they could really kick start what was starting to be a slowing down hardcore scene in New Jersey. That same person…

Cro Mags-Heavy Chains-Manipulate-Stag Party-Blind Justice at Asbury Lanes in Asbury Park, NJ 12-19-13

I ended off 2013 by heading out to see the Cro-Mags. They haven’t played down the shore probably since the show at Middlesex County College in 1994 (which my friends skipped to go see Earth Crisis and Four Walls Falling in Philadelphia! Dicks.) unless you count them playing at Club Krome in 2002. The semester had just ended and I trekked across the state to get to the gig. I ran into some friends at the show, but everyone was kind of off in their own little worlds, which is fine but it made me feel like I was always…

Shelter-Downset-H2o-Fury of V at Stone Pony Asbury Park NJ 5-5-96

During the winter of 1995-1996, I did not really go to shows for some reason. I think it was a combination of a lack of rides (I was still 16 and about a year away from having my own car) and starting at my first ever job. Our friend who drove to shows dropped out of high school and went through some pretty serious personal problems around this time, so we had to scramble to get other rides, which led to a lot of missed shows. Shelter came through the area and I drove up this show with Crystal and…
