Back in 1997 a few days after seeing S.O.D. and War Zone on consecutive days, we went to see Spazz play in Red Bank. Our curiosity was peaked by a band called Full Speed Ahead, were advertised on the flyer as having ex members of Human Remains, a band that we really liked. We did this interview at Princeton Arts Council in May of 1998. I believe this show was with Speak 714, Rain On The Parade, and Automatic. I can’t really tell you about what they are doing these days, but at the time we all really liked Ensign. A lot of my memories of that era have been soured over the years, but we used to have a lot of fun whenever Ensign played. Their first 7” has held up pretty well over the years. A few news items: Sadly, Karl Mueller, the bassist for the band Soul Asylum, died recently. What does this have to do with hardcore you ask? Well, Karl was in the band Loud Fast Rules; who conveniently enough Something I Learned Today, one of my favorite blogs, just blogged about. Soul Asylum also came out of the same scene that gave us bands like Husker Du and The Replacements. I was very impressed by Splitting Headache’s set this weekend.
