9 Lives, Agnostic Front, Crown Of Thornz, Fastbreak, Hands Tied, Ignite, Madball, Rain On The Parade, Redemption 87, Ten Yard Fight, Tension Building Fanzine, Uniforn Choice
The above video is from the day before at The Down Under in New Brunswick, but I went to see the newly reunited (and minus see crappy songs) Agnostic Front with Madball, Crown of Thornz, and some others. Seasonal allergies had just hit that week, so I was pretty sick after going crazy (and getting in a fight where like seven TOTALLY TOUGH AND SCARY skinheads went after me for DARING to try to break up a fight. One of them was like THIS IS NOT YOUR CONCERN. Oh, why didn’t you tell me this was SKINHEAD BUSINESS? Carry on!)…

Gatecrashers, Intention, No Warning, Rain On The Parade, Shark Attack, Smash & Grab, Tear It Up, To Each His Own
This was, I am pretty sure, Shark Attack’s first show. This was a new band for members of Rain On The Parade and this kid Zack, who was also in Intention and later Smash and Grab and I believe No Warning? I think I had gotten a tape of the demo, so I was pretty amped up to head out to this show. Shark Attack were great and the crowd went off as you can see in the video. They busted out a cover of “Nothing Done,” which is one of my favorite songs. Awesome. I had to really ask…

All Things Considered, Black Turns Green, OS 101, Purpose, Rain On The Parade, Uprise, Vision
We went up to this show with OS 101 in their van I think along with Jenn West and a few other people. They got a decent reaction, which was always pretty hit or miss for them. I don’t remember anything from Rain On The Parade’s set. Black Turns Green had future members of Purpose. All Things Considered had members of Uprise and a few other MCYC bands. They did a demo…this might have been their last show? Vision were good and definitely played You and I!!

Breakdown, Grey Area, Hopewell, Implode, Rain On The Parade, Sick Of It All, Tears Of Frustration, Token Entry, Voice Of Reason
This show did not get a big turnout, but Breakdown was playing so you knew we were going to be there! Rain On The Parade cancelled this show, but Tears Of Frustration got added. We got to the show as they began playing, but I do not remember much about their set. Grey Area were a band with members of Token Entry that played really melodic stuff. They had a record on Victory around this time. Breakdown was, of course, the big attraction at this show. They played their usual great set as they did a lot around this time.…

Bl'ast!, Born Annoying, Defiance Engine, Dillinger Escape Plan, Ensign, Full Speed Ahead, Fury Of V, Manalive, NJ Bloodline, Rain On The Parade, Stag Party, The Explosion, You & I
This was supposed to be a secret show, which was not kept very well, for Bl’ast! on the east coast. They ended up cancelling their tour, but the show goes on with The Explosion replacing them. I debated not going to this show after a few friends bailed on it, but figured I could check out Full Speed Ahead again. The show time apparently got pushed back, so this show ended up going really late. After a dreadful time finding parking, I got to the show before any band had even played. This was going to be a long night.…

Issue three would be the end of Parade Brigade Fanzine and, as promised in issue two, we mostly only reviewed records that were sent to us. Boy were some of these records awful! John and I handle most of the reviews with only the Carry On and Esteem records getting both of us. Issue four would have had a Carry On interview that I think John actually did…? Our friend Ryan, who did a lot of grunt work with me getting this issue thrown together as quickly as it was, jumped in to do a few reviews as well. 200…

By The Grace Of God, Floorpunch, Hands Tied, Rad, Rain On The Parade, Saves The Day, Skrewdriver, Up Front, Victory Records
This show is apparently pretty memorable, eh? On a personal silly level, this was the first show I did not X up for. Why do I remember this? I was just kind of bumming out hard. I had just finished a dreadful first semester of college and wasn’t really feeling it too well. But I remember the marker coming around and being all “eh” about it. I wrote about this in a fanzine at some point. We drove to this show with Ian Smith (OS 101) and I think Jenn West came along as well as our usual crew. We…

These were the reviews from In The Blink Of An Eye Fanzine #2 (#1 was a brief one pager that a few of these reviews appeared in originally). After a few issues of What Was Said, I switched names and tried pretty unsuccessfully to reboot the fanzine. A lot of the same problems that plagued WWS were all over this one too. This came out in the summer of 1998. I am thinking late in the month of August perhaps? I did not do another fanzine for about eight months before the first issue of Parade Brigade Fanzine came together.…

Black Marker 88, Ensign, Fists Of Fury, H-Street, Honorable Mention, In My Eyes, Rain On The Parade, Standard Issue, XClaim!
I mentioned in the XClaim! interview that Craig and I were working on the compilation. He mentions a bunch of the Australian bands that would have been on it, but I guess I never really brought out too many of the bands I had been courting. Basically, the idea was to do a split tape of American and Australian, and a few European, bands like an old BCT tape. Some bands like Standard Issue and H Street were giving, at the time, exclusive tracks. In My Eyes, Ensign, and Rain On The Parade were going to give some live tracks,…
