Parade Brigade #3 The Reviews

Issue three would be the end of Parade Brigade Fanzine and, as promised in issue two, we mostly only reviewed records that were sent to us. Boy were some of these records awful! John and I handle most of the reviews with only the Carry On and Esteem records getting both of us. Issue four would have had a Carry On interview that I think John actually did…? Our friend Ryan, who did a lot of grunt work with me getting this issue thrown together as quickly as it was, jumped in to do a few reviews as well. 200…

Iron Age-The Way Is Narrow

Iron Age The Way Is Narrow EP Painkiller Records Iron Age, featuring former members of Far From Breaking and Desperate Measures, continue to put out excellent metallic hardcore similar to Leeway, The Icemen, and early Metallica. Side A is a new song that evolves further from their debut LP, getting heavier and more urgent like Leeway. Side B is a fantastic cover of Flower Travellin Band’s song Satori Part One. That was a nice surprise and very well done.

Iron Age-Butcher’s Bill

Iron Age Butcher’s Bill 7″ Lockin Out Records Three new ones that I believe are going to be on their next record. These continue in the same vein as their excellent LP Constant Struggle. The Icemen, early Metallica, and Burn are definite reference points here. I just hope the metal influences don’t overwhelm them. Members of this band were in Far From Breaking and Desperate Measures, but this is far from that sound.

Far From Breaking

Back when we did Parade Brigade Fanzine, one of the bands we would’ve done something with if we didn’t end the fanzine was Far From Breaking.  I remember getting the demo in the mail and really liking it.  At the time the youth crew thing was pretty diluted (not quite as bad as it is today though) and there weren’t many bands in the style (or any style) holding my interest.  I dug the demo enough to pre-order their first ep.  I missed them when they came out here due to conflicts with school, but did get a special pressing…
