Cloak/Dagger-Pinata 7″

Cloak/Dagger Pinata 7″ Grave Mistake Records This one was a pleasant surprise. Members of Count Me Out and American Nightmare playing indie rock flavored early eighties hardcore. Pinata is equal parts Hot Snakes and Circle Jerks. One of my friends mentioned The Buzzcocks when listening to this band. This record is pretty catchy and interesting; I am sure I will listen to it again. They recently signed to Jade Tree Records.

Career Suicide-Signals

Career Suicide Signals EP Slasher Records Career Suicide, much like their Canadian contemporaries Fucked Up, have never really captured my attention. I enjoyed them when I saw live a few years ago, but their records don’t really grab me. They are a good band; I am reminded of The Circle Jerks, Adolescents, and Weirdos when I listen to them. I just don’t see myself listening to this all that often.

Drop Out-Demo

Drop Out Demo Parts Unknown Records Drop Out is from Texass and play good mid-paced early eighties hardcore. I hear a bit of The Circle Jerks here along with other influences from the period. Good stuff, even though the lyrics to the song Drop Out are somewhat stupid. Anti-school mentalities are for idiots. I would recommend picking it up still.
