DRI

I did this one with (his name’s) Spike from D.R.I. In 1999. This was a weird interview as Spike answered a lot of the questions in all caps and it was just strange. No matter what, Dealing With It is a classic American hardcore record. Originally in Parade Brigade Fanzine #1. So what is going on with the band? Same old story really… touring and writing and touring on and on. Also the D.R.I. Website is finally up and running! It is called D.R.I.’s homepage and the address is very simple to remember! Just go to www.dirtyrottenimbecles.com. Our new website…

Skinheads

This is part of an article from the town paper about some skinhead graffiti in town a number of years ago. Someone also tagged some Straight Edge stuff to the right of the picture (you can see the beginning of it sorta) so of course people thought skinhead=Straight Edge. Wonderful, thanks assholes.

Raybeez

This is a cool picture of Raybeez, the singer of the New York hardcore band Warzone. Ray died in 1997. This picture was used as the back cover of the next fanzine I did as a tribute. It was taken by Christina Garcia. I can’t believe Ray has been dead almost ten years. In 1996 I was going to interview him for the fanzine I was doing at the time. We spoke a few times on the phone, and even after the interview fell through (long story) he still called once more to check in and see how I was…

Lion Of Judah-Universal Peace

Lion Of Judah Universal Peace CD Youngblood Records I have had mixed feelings about all of Lion Of Judah’s previous records. I enjoyed their performance in a live setting, but on record they just haven’t really been able to move me. A lot of people say LOJ sound like Burn, but I don’t hear it at all. I do hear a variety of influences: Early Fugazi, I Against I era Bad Brains, and honestly I keep thinking of the band Heroin while listening to this. This is pretty good I guess. A few songs drift into “too much rock” for…

Bold-The Search: 1985-1989

Bold The Search: 1985-1989 Revelation Records I am sure you know Bold’s material by now. I have never been very impressed with Bold; although, strangely, I have amassed quite the live show collection of them. This CD combines all of their material-the highly overrated Speak Out, the decent Looking Back, plus some compilation songs and the famed Crippled Youth ep. My biggest problem with Bold is all of the filler. For every Clear and Wise Up there are another ten songs of fourth rate youth crew hardcore. On Looking Back, for every Speak Out there is a Hateful. But you…

Drop Out-Demo

Drop Out Demo Parts Unknown Records Drop Out is from Texass and play good mid-paced early eighties hardcore. I hear a bit of The Circle Jerks here along with other influences from the period. Good stuff, even though the lyrics to the song Drop Out are somewhat stupid. Anti-school mentalities are for idiots. I would recommend picking it up still.

Society System DeControl

We reprinted this one in Parade Brigade #2. Originally in Touch & Go Fanzine. SS Decontrol come on strong…psychically, mentally, emotionally,…there is nothing halfway about them…their live attack is relentless and can be imposing to the uninitiated…their message is indelibly etched on every scrap of music…they have been branded everything from Neo-Nazis to mindless bullies…protagonists of a “right wing straight edge” philosophy…they seem to feed on the myths, the stereotypes…all the while strengthening the bond that exists between crowd and band…yes as an outsider to the Boston scene this will appear as somewhat conjecture…but I feel strongly that their message…

Onward

This one originally appeared in Talk Is Cheap Fanzine. *** Can you give us a history of Onward, and what have you been up to lately? Onward were formed in late 1990. In spite of lack of members, equipment, and time we put out a demo in May 1991 that got us a deal with Crucial Response. We got some equipment and a steady lineup after recording our 7”. We toured Europe with Blindfold in August 1992, and in April 1993 we recorded our debut album which is finally out now (also on Crucial Response). The album is 1000 times…

Judge-Where It Went: The Complete Discography

Judge Where It Went: The Complete Discography CD Revelation Records What more can really be said about Judge that has not already been said? This discography contains all of their released material- NY Crew Ep, Bringin It Down LP, Chung King Can Suck It LP, There Will Be Quiet… EP, plus a couple demo tracks. All of this is great and all, but I have a problem-Why isn’t the complete demo on here? Oh wait, they need a “bonus track” for the vinyl. What a bunch of bullshit. It’s called a fucking “discography” for a reason. Why would I shell…

New America Fanzine

New America Fanzine #7 It is good to see Clif is still around. We used to correspond and trade back in the mid to late 90’s when he also did Vinyl Rights Fanzine. New America is a decent fanzine featuring interviews with Ink & Dagger and Integrity. There is some other content plus record reviews. I like the haphazardly placed cut and paste design. Worth picking up. $2 ppd to Clif Shumaker 980 Meadowlark LN Medina , OH 44256 youfailedme13@aol.com
